WHAT   WILL   THE   TOPIC
OF  YOUR   PODCAST   BE?

You’ll need to pick a topic for your podcast.  Podcasts can either be done Solo (one host talking about a topic) or with others, such as interviews or conversations about a certain topic.  You can choose any topic you wish to talk about.

For my project I chose to do an interview style podcast and with his permission I have used the topics from one of my family’s favorite podcasts called The Five of My Life with Nigel Marsh. In his podcast he interviews important and interesting people asking them what each of their favorite things are:

  • Favorite Movie

  • Favorite Song

  • Favorite Book

  • Favorite Place on Earth

  • Favorite Possession

For my version of the podcast I interviewed my family members asking them to share their answers and why for each one.

Here is a photo of Nigel he sent me when we asked his permission to use his idea, The 5ML logo and a QR Code to listen to Nigel and The Five of My Life  on Apple Podcast.

RECORDING AND EDITING
YOUR CONTENT

First you will want to prep your guests on how to use the equipment.  You don't want the microphone to be too close or too far from your mouth. Adjust the height or position of the microphone to be comfortable while sitting.  You will also want to adjust the volume levels for each person's microphone and earphones.

Once you have your settings established you can begin your conversations with your guests.   Encourage your guests to relax, have fun and not worry about what they sound like or how they deliver their answers.

A lot of the audio can be edited after the fact if needed.  Things like dead air, background noise or parts of the conversation you don’t want can be edited out after the fact using editing software.  Things like intros, commercials and production credits can be recorded separately and edited into the podcast as well.

POSTING   YOUR   PODCAST

Before you post your podcast you will want to decide where you want people to be able to find it.  There are several large podcast sites and/or apps such as Spotify and Apple Podcasts that offer large exposure.  YouTube is also a site that hosts a lot of podcasts, if video versions are available.  Some post their podcasts to a specific website which is what I have done for this project.  I have uploaded the audio files of my interviews below:
